Gauja Bridge

Gauja bridge, a international competition entry, was selected as top ten finalist. This bridge is conceived as a natural element. A log across a stream, a leaf delicately resting on both sides, or a gentle arch that emerges from the landscape. The timber materiality of the bridge mimics the forest in which it sits. The small-scale site calls for a solution where proportions and simplicity play the main role in rendering it as a recognisable landmark.
