Designing our own brand proved most challenging. Our conceptual approach was focused around the idea of South Africa as a place. Mountain ranges of South Africa was used as inspirational imagery which later formed part of the brand identity. The comparison between architecture and mountains intrigued us on a material and scale level. We thought of mountains as the cathedrals of nature.
The name Werkhof meaning “Work and Place” celebrates the notion of a place where work takes place. The branding further focused on the natural patina of materials and therefore we only used grey and brown in the palette.
